Placements

In recognition of the importance of social work practice placements,  all eight boroughs of the Social work Development partnership of are committed to providing final placements in each academic year. Teams with social workers should be able to negotiate to take more than one social work student during the academic year.

As the final placement before qualification, it is intended that the placement will be both demanding and rewarding so that students are thoroughly prepared for the role of a newly qualified social worker.

All team managers will be made aware of this commitment and of their responsibility to support the process. Placement provision will be reviewed annually via the Practice Learning Co-ordinators Network who report to the West London Social Work Project Board.

Each Local Authority will make the decision about individual placements. The SOWKP recommends that students interested in placements within West London liaise with their Universities. Each borough has an affiliated Partner University.
